About Us
For over 90 years, our organization has provided its members with a place to call home—educating our youth on Chian heritage, offering Greek School, dance lessons, cooking courses, and community activities. Created to give Chian immigrants a true sense of belonging, the organization continues to evolve to address current needs while remaining devoted to preserving the Hellenic language and culture.
Our Mission
Incorporated in 1936, The Chios Society of Detroit - Agia Markella is a nonprofit organization devoted to the cultivation and preservation of the history and culture of Chios, Greece. We foster deep ties of friendship and solidarity among our members while providing philanthropic, moral, and financial assistance to Chian and Greek initiatives both locally and abroad.
