Saturday, April 6, 2025 – Greek Independence Day Parade (3pm)
March with the Chios Society of Detroit at the Annual Greek Independence Day Parade. We are honored to have Archbishop Elpidophoros of America officiate the event.
Fun Fact: Archbishop Elpidophoros has strong ties to the island of Chios and has made multiple visits over the past few years.
The honorary participation of the Presidential Guard of The Hellenic Republic will also make this year’s event unique.
Important Note: Construction on Monroe Street has adjusted the parade route. Assembly point will be in front of The Annunciation Cathedral. We will be in the 3rd Division.
Saturday, May 10, 2025 – Mother’s Day Luncheon, Meeting, and Elections (12:00pm)
Provided by the Chios Society of Detroit Ag. Markella for our members, this event honors the mother figures in our lives and continues a longstanding Chios Society tradition.
We will also be conducting our annual meeting and hosting elections. Your participation is vital to preserving our organization, heritage, and culture.
Please RSVP by May 2 so we can provide an accurate headcount to the kitchen.

Sunday, July 20, 2025 – Saint Markella Feast Day (10am)
Join us for the annual celebration of our organization’s namesake and Patron Saint of our beautiful island, Saint Markella.
The Chios Society is annually recognized at The Annunciation Cathedral, given the icon placed at the church. The Society also sponsors the coffee hour.

Sunday, August 24, 2025 – Chios Society of Detroit Summer Picnic (12pm)
You all shared great feedback from our time together last year, so we want to do it again!
Wrap up the summer connecting with your fellow Chiotes and sharing top summer memories. Come for some pool time and grilling at The Pleasant Ridge Community Center.

As we’ve shared over the years, The Chios Society of Detroit and many diaspora organizations are evolving to meet the needs of today’s community.
This year, instead of a traditional dinner dance, we’re embracing a more relaxed and welcoming approach. We hope this gathering will engage more members and friends while still celebrating our rich history and lovely music.
